What Is Investment Casting?
Investment casting is one of the oldest metal forming techniques. The coating process involves the creation of patterns or prototypes of the required parts.
Several different methods can be used to make the master pattern, including 3D printing or wood carving. After the wax is injected into the master mold, the wax cools to create an exact replica of the original pattern.
The wax pattern is usually coated with ceramic material. After the ceramic material is hardened, the pattern is heated to a high temperature to melt the wax and drain from the ceramic shell.
In addition to ceramic paste, brass, aluminum or stainless steel alloys can also be used. After the molten wax is discharged from the investment mold, the molten metal is poured into the empty mold. The metal hardens and the covering material is shattered, exposing the finished part.
Since wax models and ceramic molds are destroyed to remove finished parts, the process requires the use of molds made from master molds. This increases the preparation time of the project.

You need parts that cannot be manufactured using traditional technology:
Stainless steel casting is ideal, for example, when manufacturing aircraft parts or complex turbine blades that must withstand extreme temperatures and conditions.
